Sports Massage in Bury with Bobby Feven

Sports Massage Specialist based in Bury, Greater Manchester

Sports massage is a form of deep tissue massage which is stronger than Therapeutic or Aromatherapy and used to manipulate, rehabilitate and manage the soft tissue throughout the body. It works to lengthen the muscle and tendon fibres thus releasing tension on joints, increasing the joint range of motion, and correcting any imbalances created by lifestyles, sports and occupations.

A Sports Massage session will consist of a wide range of techniques, which will vary depending on the condition presented. Firstly, postural assessment will be used to check the body’s alignment which then dictates the areas and lines that will be treated. The massage techniques which can be used are:

  • Myofascial Release (Releases and Lengthens the muscles’ skin/sheath)
  • Soft Tissue Release (Lengthens and re-aligns muscle fibres)
  • Neuromuscular Technique (Reduces tension in muscles using trigger points)
  • Muscle Energy Technique (Increases Flexibility in muscle tissue)
  • Deep Tissue Massage (This has many benefits inc. removing waste materials from muscles)
  • Lymph Drainage (Reduces swelling after ligament or tendon injuries)
  • Frictions (Removes areas of scar tissue)

Rehabilitation exercises will be given to improve either the flexibility, conditioning or balance within a muscle or group or group of muscles. Help and advice will be given on timescales for rehabilitation and questions clients have about any other aspect of their treatment.

Bobby also practices CORE Bodywork which was developed by an American therapist, Noah Korrasch. CORE is an acronym of Coax Order, Restore Energy and it works by manipulating areas of connective tissue through the body that are “stuck”. This method is very successful in releasing tension through the low back, hips, ribs, shoulders and neck & jaw, restoring balance through the body’s “hinges”.
